Rather than sharing his weekly insights, Lorre’s vanity card featured an image of Nimoy and one simple sentence: "The impact you had on our show and our lives is everlasting."
Nimoy died Feb. 27 at his home in Bel Air. His granddaughter, Dani, said the cause of death was end-stage chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. He was 83.
Star Trek — and specifically Nimoy and his beloved character, Spock — have been referenced frequently on The Big Bang Theory. Sheldon (Emmy winner Jim Parsons) dressed as Spock in an episode, and all of the guys — Leonard (Johnny Galecki), Raj (Kunal Nayyar) and Howard (Simon Helberg) — can recite the Vulcan’s dying words.
Nimoy — Sheldon’s hero — guest-starred in a 2012 episode in which he never appeared onscreen but instead voiced a Spock action figure that encouraged Sheldon to embrace his "human" form.
